Find your loud.

Brave Voices helps young people become the speakers they’re capable of being. Because real confidence doesn’t come from being told you can do it — it comes from doing it.

The Brave Voices Summer Workshop

Two days of finding your loud. On your feet, having a laugh, speaking until it feels like yours.

Confidence as a speaker doesn’t come from a pep talk. It comes from standing up and doing it — again and again, in a room that’s on your side. That’s exactly what these two days are built for.
Your teenager is on their feet from the start: having a laugh, finding their voice, speaking and re-speaking until it stops being scary and starts feeling like theirs. By the end of day two they’ve crafted their own short speech and performed it on camera. They go home with a finished video they’re proud of, and something bigger — the lived proof that they can stand up, speak out and be heard.
This isn’t a course for “shy kids who need fixing.” It’s for any teenager ready to grow — the quiet ones with plenty to say, the confident ones ready to sharpen their edge, and everyone in between.
What’s included:
• 12 hours of small-group coaching (max 14 per group)
• Voice, presence, mindset and storytelling — taught by a professional actress and speech coach
• A filmed final speech — theirs to keep

In a world of AI, the ability to speak as yourself — clearly, warmly, confidently — is the one skill that can’t be automated. That’s what we grow here.“Laura Jane is a passionate and dynamic teacher who inspires her students… she discovers what works for each individual and builds their confidence in a fun and collaborative environment.”
— Gillian Oman, Director & Founder, The Independent Theatre Workshop
“After 11 years here, I can confidently say you are the best teacher I ever had.”
— Lucy, age 15, drama student

Brave Voices for Schools — Transition Year Programme

The Brave Voices Lab is an energetic, on-your-feet six-week communication and public speaking programme designed for Transition Year — 12 hours that take students from “I hate speaking in front of people” to standing up and owning the room.
Built and delivered by a professional actress and drama educator with years of experience running TY communication programmes across Dublin schools. Every session is practical, vibrant and genuinely fun — and gets students on their feet and speaking from week one, because that’s the only way real confidence is built.
Across six weeks, students will:
• Build speaking skills — voice, presence and delivery
• Work on mindset — managing nerves and building real confidence
• Craft their own story — every student writes and develops a short speech
• Perform on camera — finishing with a showcase speech they can see their progress in
The details:
• Six weekly 2 hour sessions (12 hours total), delivered in your school
• Autumn intakes: Block 1 starting early September · Block 2 starting late October
• Limited places
“The boys really enjoyed your module throughout the year — this was very clear from their feedback.”
— Transition Year Coordinator, Dublin secondary school.

Meet your coach

I’m Laura Jane — professional actress, speech coach, and founder of Brave Voices.I trained at Trinity College Dublin and have worked professionally on stage and screen for over twenty years: from the Abbey and the Gate to the West End, television and voice-over.I’m also wildly dyslexic. School told me words weren’t my thing. The stage told me otherwise. I’ve spent my career proving that how you speak has nothing to do with how you spell. It has everything to do with training. For years I’ve taught speech, drama and communication to young people across Dublin, and run Transition Year programmes in schools. Here’s what all of that taught me: most people aren’t bad speakers. They’ve just never been trained. And more than anything, they’ve never been given the reps.Confidence isn’t a personality type you’re born with. It’s built by doing: standing up, speaking, discovering you survived, then doing it again until it feels like yours. That’s why I built Brave Voices.
